This course has been designed for aspiring tattoo artists who are serious about learning the correct fundamentals of tattooing in a professional environment. Whether you’ve always wanted to become a tattoo artist or recently thought of it and simply don’t know where to begin, this course will give you the knowledge and practical experience to build strong foundations.

Please note that this is not an apprenticeship, nor is it a fast track to becoming a professional tattoo artist. Tattooing is a craft that takes years of dedication, practice and continuous learning. Our goal is to give you the correct starting point and help you avoid many of the mistakes that beginners commonly make.

What You’ll Learn

During this intensive weekend course, you’ll cover:

  • Understanding tattoo machines and how they work
  • Needle configurations and gauges
  • Machine setup and hygiene fundamentals
  • Correct stencil application
  • Pulling clean, straight lines
  • Smooth shading techniques
  • Basic tattoo workflow and best practices
  • Practical tattooing on fake skin using professional equipment

Bloodhound Tattoo Studio founder Charlie Moss will demonstrate every stage in real time, with the tattoo streamed onto a large screen so every student can clearly follow along while completing the same exercises on their own workstation.

All equipment required for the course will be provided.

At the end of the weekend, you’ll also receive a detailed printed training manual written by Charlie, outlining everything covered during the course along with guidance on what to focus on next as you continue developing your skills.

 

Who This Course Is For

This course is ideal for people who:

  • Are passionate about becoming a tattoo artist.
  • Have some basic artistic ability or drawing experience.
  • Want to learn in a professional studio environment.
  • Are willing to dedicate time to practising after the course.
  • Understand that tattooing is a long-term skill that requires commitment.

Minimum Requirements

To apply you MUST:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing tattooing as a career or serious hobby.
  • Possess basic artistic knowledge and be comfortable with drawing. While you don’t need to be a professional artist, a basic understanding of line work, shape, shading and proportion is essential.
  • Be willing to learn, accept feedback and practise consistently after completing the course.
